Huda Beauty Masterclass - Nov 2016

On the 5th of November, I attended the Huda Beauty Masterclass in Abu Dhabi! Crazy, right? I was super excited to meet Huda & Mona and I ended up meeting Chris too omg!
The event took place at the amazing Rosewood Hotel in Abu Dhabi and had the most magical view of the city. I'm in loooove.

My #OOTD:

All these are hand painted, edible cookies made by @TheCandyBarByManna on Instagram! Also, the macaroons were so tasty wow. And pictured below is some of the food that we had during the breaks in between the class.

I met the lovely Amira Ebrahim, who hosted the masterclass with Mona Kattan! She's so beautiful!

@ImJennyIsabella & @Zimbalicous

And at the end of the class, we were given our GOODY BAGS I WAS SO EXCITED WOW WOW WOW. As soon as I got to my hotel, I unpacked everything and swatched some products on my hand & I snapchatted the whole thing. I must say I was disappointed to find out that a lot of products were not included in the goody bag that Huda mentioned in her video! Cries.

At the end of this post is a little video of my trip & the masterclass!

Benefit Cosmetics Masterclass Durban & Goodie Bag!

Oh hey there! It's been a while since I last posted, but I'm excited for you to read this one! Also, next week I leave for a very exciting event in Abu Dhabi so follow my adventures on my Instagram!

On Saturday,  I attended the Benefit Brow Masterclass hosted by Lauren Engelbrecht, the national brow artist of Benefit South Africa! It was such a fun experience learning different brow techniques using the amazing, new products from their brow collection. Gotta say that my favourite product has to be the 3D Browtones. I love how it goes on so smoothly, and I generally use it after I apply a pomade, or the ka-Brow cream-gel in number 5. This is what the product looks like:

I will definitely be purchasing more from their brow collection soon! Here are some photos of the Masterclass held at the Gateway Hotel this past weekend:

Also, can we talk about how pretty the new They're Real! Double the Lip lipsticks are! I swatched them instore and I love that it includes 2 colours in the shape of a teardrop! You can buy 4 of these lippies in the BIG Sexy Lipkit set! Below are some swatches from their website:

When I took my seat at the table, I noticed the cutest little Benefit Goodie Bag. I thought I'd show you guys what was inside!

Firstly, HOW amazing is this bag? I love it! Inside, I got a few sample sized beauty/ skincare products, a Benefit shower cap, another bag and a Sunglass Hut voucher! Take a look:

I received samples of the 2 incredible mascaras. The Roller Lash Mascara is one of my all time FAVES. It curls my lashes so nicely and gives my lashes a whole lot of volume! The wand is just amazing on this product. I love it so much!

The They're Real! Mascara isn't as good as the Roller Lash in my opinion. It doesn't hold the curl well and it sometimes make my under-eyes go black throughout the day. But i do know a lot of people who love this product! Everyone is different I guess!

The POREfessional License to Blot primer! I haven't used this before and I cannot wait to try it out because I already use the POREfessional primer, so I know this will be amazing!

The Instant Comeback facial serum looks super cute in this packaging! This product is anti-ageing, and when you apply it, it's super hydrating and makes your skin feel firmer & a lot more smoother! I will definitely be purchasing the full-sized product!

Keep an eye out for more reviews from Benefit Cosmetics! I am loving their brow collection at the moment, can't wait to review the products that I purchase from them in the future! I hope they do more Masterclasses like this because I love learning new techniques and who wouldn't want another goodie bag, right!?

xoxo

HAYA COLLECTIVE: SLEEPWEAR RANGE

Hey loves! Super excited to be finally posting this! This shoot was so much fun! We shot with the lovely Haya Collective team for their new Sleepwear Collection! I am obsessed with their cute lil pyjamas, plus I'm so excited because they come with matching eye masks YAY. Here's some photos featuring Haya Collective's Sleepwear LAUNCHING SOON on HayaCollective.com:

The Sleepwear Sets from Haya Collective are to die for! They are incredibly soft and comfy! Perfect for a lazy day in bed, reading your favourite book! When I slipped into the PJ's, all i needed was a cup of tea and my favourite blanket. The eye masks are a bonus - perfect for a restful night's sleep!

The full length pants & matching button-down shirt makes it the perfect gift for someone special! It's my mother's birthday soon so you know what I'll be getting her! The Striped Sleepwear Set is my favourite. If you know me, you know how much I love almost anything with stripes.

The Holy Grail Flash Case from Swiitch Beauty

The Holy Grail Flash Case is a palette of 12 highly pigmented bright and metallic cream colours. This provides you with the colours you need for any type of artistic makeup, everyday use or special effects colouring. These thick and creamy tones flawlessly cover the skin. These can be easily shaded together to obtain a wide variety of effects, depending on the quantity applied.

I mix my colours using the Swiitch Mixing Palette, and a small wooden spoon.

FACE:

Foundation: White + Brown + Coral + a bit of Yellow = creates a flesh tone. Mix this together and add more brown or white to reach your desired shade. Use warmer toned colours, either coral or yellow to adjust your shade.

Concealer: Same colours as the foundation, but add an extra bit of White for under eye brightening.

Highlight: Same colours as the foundation shade, but add a lot more White. I also added the Gold pigment to this shade for a glowy/ shimmery look on top of the cheekbones.

Contour: Use the same foundation shade, but add extra Brown to get a darker shade.

Blush: Coral + a little bit of Red + Pink = a Spring blush colour on the cheeks. (My fav!!)

THE BASE MUST BE SET WITH A FACE POWDER, PREFERABLY TRANSLUCENT AS IT WILL CREASE IN WARMER CONDITIONS THOUGHOUT THE DAY, BECAUSE THE PIGMENTS ARE QUITE OILY.

EYES:

Eyebrows: Black + Brown
                    Brown + White
Highlight your brow bone with a mixture of White + Coral + Yellow + tiniest bit of Brown + Silver (optional) = glowy brow bones for dayssss!

Eyelid Base: Use the leftover foundation colour as an eyelid base, and set with a skin-colour eyeshadow so the cream does not crease. Continue with your normal powdered eyeshadows for your own look.

Eyeliner: This palette has your basic Black and Brown shades. But go wild with the other colours in this kit! My favourite colour eyeliner is definitely navy blue, paired with a wing! Remember to set your eyeliner with the same colour eyeshadow, or a translucent powder with an angled brush.

LIPSTICK:

The possible shades are endless! Here's some popular combinations:

Brown + Coral
Brown + Magenta + White
Coral + Red
Red + Blue + White
Your foundation shade + White for a nude lip

P.S. Add the Silver or Gold shade for a metallic look too!

CORRECTORS:

Orange & Red cancels out the dark spots or under eye circles on medium to dark skin tones. Mix using Red + Yellow + Coral.
Pink cancels out darker under eyes on lighter skin tones. Mix Coral + White for this concealer!

Green correctors cancels out redness from acne. Mix Green + White + tiny bit of Coral for this corrector.

MAKE SURE TO USE THE CODE ILHAAMXSCH WHEN YOU CHECK OUT ON SWIITCHBEAUTY.COM

We Wear Gems x Girls In Grey

How beautiful are these pieces from We Wear Gems? The choker trend is giving me life right now! I can definitely say that the Grey Wrap Around Choker is Naeema's favourite one! Below are some of the chokers available online from weweargems.co.za //
Models: Naeema & Ilhaam Schrueder

It might be easy to go with a simple velvet look, but why not have some fun? Pictured below are different types and ways to wear your choker this Spring so you remain fashion forward!

The wrap around choker is a great look for day-to-day wear. It can dress up any outfit easily. Just pair your choker with your favorite pair of jeans and a white shirt and you can instantly look stylish with very minimal effort. We love how Naeema paired it with an off-shoulder top, making the choker the star of the show!

I am literally LOVING the choker trend right now. If you do a quick scroll through Instagram, you'll find the 90's gem wrapped around the necks of your favourite celebs and fashion bloggers across the globe. If we go way back, we can thank stars like Draw Barrymore and Naomi Campbell for making the trend popular in the 90's!

Thankfully, the choker trend has made a comeback, but with a much needed makeover. We Wear Gems are keeping us up to date with the fashion trends of today and selling these amazing neck pieces online. We are totally obsessing over this Wrap Around Necklace.
// Shop this amazing Grey Wrap Around Choker here.

If you're new to the choker trend, I suggest you stick to the simple and classic velvet, leather or suede styles and pair it with anything from cute lil off-shoulder shirts, to denim during the day and plunging jumpsuits at night.

// Shop the trend at We Wear Gems: Thick Velvet Choker, shop here.

For a more edgy daytime look, experiment with any choker to bring a new life to a white shirt. The thick choker goes perfectly with any shirt that isn't too high up on the neck. You can also opt for wider styles with bold embellishments or layer different necklaces with the choker as well!

If you want to make a statement, but play it a bit on the safer side, a more simple jewelled choker is a great look you can wear for a night out, or to dress up a plain outfit during the day. I love this orange gem colour and I think it goes perfectly with an all black outfit to make a statement.

Body chains are so in right now, and we are totally loving this Rapunzel Half Body chain from WWG. It goes perfectly with a deep neck shirt or even to wear with your bikini!
Since its Spring, the sun is out and it's beach weather already, I think wearing this body chain with a sleeveless, deep V neck top will make your outfit pop without making much effort. I recommend buying this for this season!

Statement chokers with a big embellishment are also a fabulous look for a sophisticated night out. Pairing a simple dress with a statement piece is a great idea if you want your outfit to be remembered. We Wear Gems offers incredible chokers with cute statement pendants on it.

Don't forget to take a look at WeWearGems.co.za for some amazing jewellery at incredible prices! Follow @Girlsingrey & @WeWearGems on Instagram & leave a comment telling us what you want to see next!

Lots Luv & See You Soon!!

The Ride or Die Makeup Tag | Jaclyn Hill

Recently, Jaclyn Hill created a tag video on her Youtube channel called Ride Or Die Makeup Tag. As the title describes, the tag is all about your favourite , must-haves, can't live without makeup products. Here are my Ride or Dies!

FACE PRIMER:

Benefit POREfessional - This is my fav primer because it really does make my makeup last longer, and it's great at filling in my pores! It gives me a matte look on my skin which I love!

FOUNDATION:

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Stromboli - This is the perfect colour for my skin tone. I love the dewy finish this foundation gives me and I like the fact that it's medium to full coverage too! If you've had trouble finding your colour in foundations, I highly recommend you take a look at this range!

CONCEALER:

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer -This is a full coverage concealer and it has quite a thick consistency. This has sort of a dewy finish, it covers dark circles beautifully and it gives a radiant look to it.

OR

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer - I use this for my under eye highlight. I feel like this is the perfect one for my dark circles around my eyes too because it doesn't crease as much, and isn't cakey!

FACE POWDER:

Chanel Vitalumiere Loose Powder - This powder gives me extra coverage, once I apply it over my base and sets my makeup so well. I use it with a huge fluffy face brush!

UNDER EYE SETTING POWDER:

Makeup Forever HD Translucent Powder - I like this for the under eyes because it gives a good finish, it lasts long and it isn't cakey at all. I use this with the Real Techniques Setting Brush and dab it under my eyes once my concealer is applied.

BLUSH:

Benefit Rockateur - I literally wear this every day in my makeup routine. It's the perfect blush tone for my skin tone because it looks very natural and the best for the 'no makeup' makeup look.

BRONZER:

Benefit Hoola Bronzer - Duh, this is my all time favourite bronzer. I use this product to bronze and contour dem cheekbones every single day. Always gotta be on fleek!!

HIGHLIGHT:

Anastasia Beverly Hills Glowkit in That Glow - I have to have a good highlight to finish off a good makeup look! I feel incomplete without glowy cheekbones. This highlight palette is in my everyday makeup routine and gives the most amazing highlight ever!

MASCARA:

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara - You guys know I love this mascara. I mentioned most of these makeup products before in previous blog posts. But this mascara just makes my lashes pop and make them look super long.

LIPSTICK:

Mac Lipstick in Brave - This colour from Mac is my all time favourite and I've already been through 2 lipstick tubes already!

LIQUID LIPSTICK:

Kylie Cosmetics Lipkit in Candy K - This lipstick is not drying, and it feels really light on my lips. Not many liquid lippies do this. Well done Kylie!!

GLOSS:

Kylie Cosmetics Gloss in 'Like" - I like this gloss because it isn't sticky at all! The shine from the gloss lasts super long and this colour is the perfect nude gloss for everyday wear.

LASHES:

Huda Beauty Lashes in Samantha - I don't wear lashes often, but when I do, it has got to be these babies! I own 3 pairs of these Samantha lashes because they're literally to die for. These lashes are not too dramatic for me which is perfect.

EYESHADOW PALETTE:

Morphs 35O - I use this palette in my everyday makeup because of all the brown, warm shades here. They're my favourite eyeshadow colours and just go so well with an everyday natural look. I love it because they'e highly pigmented and the glitters are so creamy and easy to apply!!

SETTING SPRAY:

Mac Fix + - This gives me a dewy finish once my base is applied. I also like to spray it on before I apply foundation too! It can act as a primer as well. I've literally been through 3 bottles of this.

And that is it for my Ride or Die Makeup Tag! You can view Jaclyn Hill's video below, where she explains her must-have makeup products! See you soon on Girls in Grey!
